Life Sciences in the UK: From Innovation to Impact

16:00-18:00

Launched in July, the Government’s Life Sciences Sector Plan (LSSP) is aligned with the 10 Year Health Plan and part of its Modern Industrial Strategy and aims to establish the UK as Europe’s leading Life Sciences economy by 2030 – accelerating Healthcare innovation and ensuring faster adoption of effective treatment across the NHS.

Whilst the LSSP aims to strengthen the UK’s life sciences ecosystem by driving innovation and investment, gaps in commercialisation, scaling, and patient access may challenge how successfully the LSSP translates into real-world improvements in healthcare delivery.

On 4 November, Baroness Ilora Finlay will chair an event by the All-Party Parliamentary Health Group to explore how the LSSP can support the delivery of the 10-Year Health Plan by driving NHS transformation, scaling innovation, and improving patient access to medicines, MedTech, and AI-enabled technologies.

Speakers include:

  • Sadik Al-Hassan MP, Officer Life Science APPG and Health APPG
  • David Lawson, Director of Medical Technology & Innovation, Department of Health and Social Care
  • Joe Edwards, Director of UK Competitiveness and Devolved Nations, ABPI
  • Greg Quinn, Director of Public Policy & Advocacy, BD
  • James Bevan, Head of National Policy and Programmes, Boehringer Ingelheim
