Stakeholder engagement roundtable with DCMS: NDS indicator suites

2:00-3:30 pm

Policy Connect are delighted to be hosting a roundtable contributing to a stakeholder engagement series with DCMS to gain feedback on the development of indicator suites to aid effective monitoring and evaluation of implementation of the National Data Strategy (NDS) commitments.

The roundtable will take place via zoom on Thursday 11th November, 2:00-3:30 pm and will be chaired by Eve Lugg, Policy Manager for Data Analytics.

In September 2020, the UK government published the draft framework National Data Strategy (NDS) for public consultation, updating it in May 2021 in response to the views and evidence received. As part of the strategy’s ambition to place the UK as a world-leading data economy while ensuring public trust in data use, we are hosting a roundtable to discuss efficient ways of monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the strategy. Following on from the update published in September in 2021, which set out the NDS’s monitoring and evaluation framework, the indicator suites form part of the work to measure the data ecosystem which was announced as part of the five work streams that the NDS Forum would focus on.

This discussion will focus on the ambition of the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) to develop a suite of indicators to aid effective monitoring and evaluation of the NDS, by measuring how key parts of the data ecosystem are developing over time. Participants will have the opportunity to comment on the development process and express thoughts surrounding these indicators in relation to the structure, efficacy and ease of implementation. Policy Connect will produce a summary of the outputs following the event which will contribute to our submission to the consultation.
