The fire in Grenfell Tower on 14th June 2017 killed 72 people. The Government subsequently commissioned Dame Judith Hackitt to produce and independent review of building regulations and fire safety. The ‘Hackitt review’ was published on 17th May 2018, and contained 53 recommendations to government and the industry to improve standards and safety.

“I am keen to engage widely with industry and the public to inform the recommendations from the review. I want the recommendations to lead to any necessary improvements in the system being made.”

Dame Judith Hackitt

100% Hackitt is about bringing together influential individuals who support the systemic change in the construction industry proposed by Dame Judith Hackitt in her report “Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety”.  Dame Judith made 53 recommendations within her report, which also included a warning that cherry-picking recommendations would compromise the whole system approach.

100% Hackitt is not a lobbying campaign – it provides opportunities for those in the industry who are already introducing changes in practices and working relationships to discuss cross-discipline issues – to make their efforts add up to more than the sum of their parts – while keeping pressure on Ministers to adopt all the Hackitt recommendations.

This ‘100% Hackitt’ event builds on WSBF's previous work on fire safety, including a roundtable on 16th  January 2018 to discuss Dame Judith's interim findings, and follow up lunch roundtable on 11th  September 2018 to debate how building standards can be improved following the Hackitt Review being published.

This event is being organised by the Westminster Sustainable Business Forum, and is being kindly sponsored by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) and Local Authority Building Control (LABC).

If you would like to regioster your interest in attending this event, please contact WSBF manager Jim Clark.
