Philip Greenish, CBE BSc CEng FIET
Philip Greenish has been Chief Executive of the Royal Academy of Engineering since July 2003. As the UK’s national academy for engineering, it brings together the most successful and talented engineers from across the engineering sectors for a shared purpose: to advance and promote excellence in engineering.
Philip read Engineering Science at Durham University, graduating in 1972. He served in the Royal Navy from 1969 until 2003, retiring as a Rear Admiral having had responsibility for engineering, personnel and logistic support for the front line of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines. He is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies.
He sits on Southampton University Council, and is a Board member of Engineering UK, a Trustee of the Daphne Jackson Trust and a Trustee of the Science Media Centre.
