Helen has been Labour MP for Bishop Auckland since 2005 and has held a number of front bench positions in Government and opposition. Helen is currently a Shadow Minister for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. 

In her constituency Helen has called for the development of geothermal heat as a potential resource for a low carbon transition.
