First session of APPCCG COP26 Inquiry: climate diplomacy and the uncertain road to COP26
The first session of the APPCCG COP26 inquiry will look at climate diplomacy in the run up to COP26

With the UNFCCC COP26 conference now postponed to 2021, the UK now has more time to engage with our international partners prior to the conference.
But the road to COP26 is now far from clear, with the new timeline currently highly uncertain. This at a time when the need to coordinate a response to the covid19 outbreak is putting pressure on Governments around the world.
Clearly resources should not be diverted away from a response to covid19, but equally it is vital that efforts to move the world forward on climate commitments are not put on hold.
This session will focus on the main diplomatic challenges the UK faces in ensuring a successful COP26 and seek to map out a pathway to the conference.
This session will be led by Caroline Lucas MP alongside the inquiry co-chairs who will hear from expert witnesses including:
- Nick Mabey, E3G
- Chatham House, speaker TBC
- Further panellists to be announced shortly
The sessions will be held remotely and will be open to APPCCG members to observe.
