After reforming in 2010 the APPCOG completed its inaugural research inquiry in 2011, launching the final report, "Preventing Carbon Monoxide Poisoning", in October that year. Since then, the group has produced a steady stream of research, provided an updated version of the 2011 inquiry and produced a new inquiry in 2015, looking at behavioural insights in efforts to prevent CO poisoning.

The group is in the process of undertaking inquiries into the current Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulation 2015, ahead of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) review into the legislation in October 2017, and research into the current level of gas engineer training standards and assessments.
