Perinatal Mental Health in the workplace
The All-Party Parliamentary Health Group is delighted to host this upcoming parliamentary roundtable in partnership with the Maternal Mental Health Alliance on Perinatal Mental Health in the workplace.
Hosted by Lord Bethell and Luciana Berger, the roundtable will discuss how perinatal mental health can become part of existing agenda, with a particular emphasis on investing in women and promoting a healthy workforce.
Despite its prevalence (at least 1 in 5 mums and 1 in 10 dads), awareness and understanding of perinatal mental health problems and the impact on women and their families in the workforce is not sufficiently understood, especially when compared with physical health conditions during and after pregnancy.
For too many workplaces across the UK, perinatal mental health is not acknowledged in family or mental health policies, leaving out expecting and new parents who are missing out on vital support during this vulnerable chapter of their lives.
This parliamentary roundtable will look for solutions to change that and to take steps towards making the UK the best place in the world to be a working parent.
The roundtable will hear from the following speakers:
- Dame Lesley Regan- Women’s Health Ambassador, DHSC
- Laura Seebohm- Chief Executive, Maternal Mental Health Alliance
- Annie Belasco- Head of Charity, PANDAS Foundation
- Jane van Zyl- Chief Executive, Working Families
- Tania Boler- Chief Executive, Elvie
- Debbie Wosskow- Co-Chair, Invest in Women Taskforce
- Sandra Igwe -Chief Executive, The Motherhood Group
- Lydia Hamilton-Rimmer- Previous Co-Lead for Women’s Network at CBI, Simply Health
