Healthy Home Environments

15:00-17:00

Policy Connect looks forward to holding a parliamentary reception on Healthy Home Environments on Monday 22 April, convening key stakeholders in housing, air quality, health and energy policy.

To be jointly held by the All-Party Groups for Carbon Monoxide and Health, and hosted by Barry Sheerman MP, the reception comes at a crucial inflection point for UK home health and safety policy.

Amidst the Government’s ongoing development of the Decent Homes Standard (DHS), which guides action on carbon monoxide safety hazards, the Government’s landmark Renters Reform Bill, which will extend the DHS to rental homes, is due to return to Parliament for debate in mid-April.

At the reception, policymakers will update on the developing Decent Homes Standard, while featured speakers from the Housing Ombudsman Service and the UK Health Security Agency will provide insights on air pollution issues at home. Expert insights shared at the reception will inform a Clean Air at Home manifesto to direct the next government’s action on home environment health and safety.
