The Water Report feature's WSBF's Bricks & Water report

28th July 2018

Industry magazine The Water Report features a double page spread on WSBF's Bricks & Water report, outlining the key findings and recommendations to government on housing, flooding and water resources.

In their July/August 2018 edition, The Water Report highlights quotes from the launch of the report from people on the panel. Inquiry Co-chairs Angela Smith MP and Baroness McIntosh are quoted saying that DEFRA's new post-Brexit environmental watchdog must be able to hold the government to account on housing, planning and water issues, and the need to build the right homes in the right places. The article states the need for planning reform to build better quality houses, the role that can be played by increasing certification of building standards through a 'Property Resilience Certificate', the lack of regional oversight of planning and water, and the urgent need to make our water system more resilient to the challenges presented by climate change.

WSBF's Bricks & Water report was launched in Parliament by Angela Smith MP and Baroness McIntosh on Tuesday 19th June 2018. The report was a year-long consultation with the house building, water and planning sectors, and looks to set out a plan of action for building homes and managing water in England. Bricks & Water was headline sponsored by Anglian Water, and co-sponsored by Affinity Water, the British Board of Agrément, Thames Water, Yorkshire Water and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.

The Water Report is a monthly industry magazine launched in 2014 in response to UK water market reform, and looks at the areas of policy, regulation and competition. You can subscribe to The Water Report here
