Omar joined Policy Connect on a 6 month secondment from the Civil Service from September 2018 - February 2019. He is based in the Industry, Technology & Innovation team and is leading on the Technology and Data Ethics Inquiry for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Data Analytics.

Omar is on the Civil Service Fast Stream programme and has had policy-focused postings in Capital & Land Strategy at the Department of Health and Social Care and working on the Welsh Government’s Long Term Plan for Health and Social Care which was published in June 2018. Before joining the Civil Service, Omar taught English in China with the British Council and completed an internship in the West Bank through the International Citizen Service. Omar holds a BA in International Development with International Relations from the University of Leeds and has studied in both mainland China and Hong Kong as part of his degree.

Outside of work, Omar enjoys reading, exercising, and following east Asian politics.
