Maxine Frerk
Until recently Maxine was a member of Ofgem’s executive board responsible for all aspects of regulation of the gas and electricity distribution networks including setting the most recent RIIO price control and initiating Ofgem’s thinking on the importance of flexibility in the electricity system and on the future of gas.
During her 15 years at Ofgem she led on a range of different areas spanning consumer policy and insight, including Ofgem’s approach to vulnerable customers; enforcement and competition policy; retail markets including making the market reference to the CMA; code governance and smart metering. Prior to joining Ofgem she was Head of UK Regulation at BT. She is now director of Grid Edge Policy, working as an independent consultation with a particular focus on the consumer and regulatory challenges associated with the energy system transformation. She is also a visiting fellow on the Integrating Renewables programme at the Oxford Martin School, Oxford University.
