Skills Commission – sector specific roundtble

The Skills Commission is working on its new ‘Workforce of the Future’ inquiry chaired by Lord Jim Knight and Nicola Richards MP. The inquiry will examine areas such as which groups of learners face the most challenges, should further education and careers guidance be more closely aligned, what resources can improve careers guidance, and which sectors are most critical for future growth. For the inquiry a roundtable was held on the 24th September with employers and stakeholders from STEM based industries, to feed into the Workforce of the future inquiry, co-chaired with ECITB and featured presentation from Dr Hilary Leevers, Chief Executive of EngineeringUK, about young people’s attitudes toward opportunities in the engineering sector.
