Skills 2030 Scoping Roundtable
The Education and Skills team at Policy Connect are running a scoping session for a new inquiry with the working title “Skills 2030 – A World Class Skills System”.
We will debate what a world-class skills system could look like and the necessary policy decisions that need to happen so we have the talent and capacity to grow the UK economy.
The discussion takes place in the context of a tight financial envelope with all the major parties currently constraining themselves on spending promises. A focus will include whether there are better ways to spend public money on skills and how can business be incentivised to increase their own contribution to training.
We aim to develop recommendations for the next government to lead an ambitious reform agenda for the skills system. We’ll publish next year and share emerging findings to inform party manifestos as we progress.
