GDPR and Brexit

22nd January 2018

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU regulation which will revolutionise the way in which EU governments and companies are able to gather, store, process and share personal data. After GDPR enters into force in May 2018, citizens of EU countries will gain the right to request the information an organisation holds about them.

The All Party Parliamentary Group for Data Analytics will outline the main regulatory features, how companies can adapt to them and put them in the overall policy context at this exclusive roundtable event.

We will include a short presentation of a senior representative of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) highlighting the major provisions of the GDPR, as well as their implications on UK citizens and businesses.

This will be followed up by a roundtable with leading industry representatives, academics and Parliamentarians. Our findings from the meeting will form a term paper which will be circulated to Members of Parliament, Peers and other senior policymakers to improve awareness of the complex legislative undertakings that GDPR represents.
