    Carbon Connect releases Future Gas Part 2: MPs say "Build a market for hydrogen to meet climate change targets"

    The Committee on Climate Change (CCC) concluded in their 2018 progress report to parliament that “The current reliance on natural gas is incompatible with long-term decarbonisation. Key strategic decisions will be needed in the early 2020s on low-carbon heat for properties on the gas grid. The main options for these properties are heat pumps and low-carbon hydrogen.”

    Carbon Connect is calling for action to support biogas production for decarbonisation in the near term; develop a market for hydrogen for decarbonisation in the long term; learn lessons from the power sector- deployment can lead to cost reductions and technology improvements.

    Greening Britain's Infrastructure Reception

    Hosted by the Policy Connect Sustainability Team, this parliamentary drinks reception on 18 July 2018 was an opportunity to consider the National Infrastructure Assessment (NIA) document, recently produced by the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC). Speakers and attendees discussed what infrastructure the Government should prioritise, and what opportunities there are for sustainable infrastructure.

    Phil Graham, Chief Executive of National Infrastructure Commission addressed the audience along with James Heappey MP, Baroness McIntosh of Pickering, Lord Redesdale and Alan Brown MP.
