Energy, Environment and Infrastructure in the Spending Review

4-6pm

The upcoming spending review will allocate funding to different Government departments, setting the scope for their plans for at least the next year: and possibly for the next three years. At this critical time for sustainability, with decisions over setting a net zero emissions target and guaranteeing environmental standards post-Brexit on the near horizon, it is important that sustainability- from mitigating climate change, to building resilient communities to reducing our waste- is prioritised for investment.

This reception will explore the Government’s Spending Review process, what the Government’s record is up until now on investment in energy, the environment and infrastructure, and what the key imperatives are for sustainability in the upcoming Spending Review.

Keynote speech: Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury

Respondents: Phil Graham, Chief Executive of the National Infrastructure Commission; and Mariana Mazzucato, Professor of Innovation and Public Value at UCL and Director of the Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose

Other speakers to be confirmed.

This event is being held by Policy Connect's sustainability team, including the All Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group, the All Party Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group, Carbon Connect and the Westminster Sustainable Business Forum.
