Packaging Design and Resource Efficiency

Packaging Design and Resource Efficiency

6th December 2017

The APSRG, together with the All-Party Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group (APDIG) is holding an event to discuss the relationships between packaging design and resource efficiency.

Packaging continues to be debated nationally in the news, in homes, in businesses and formally in Parliament.  Coffee cup recycling, litter prevention and ocean plastics are all, quite literally at times, under the microscope.  How do we innovate our way forward and to what ends?  How can technological solutions help?  Where does good design come into play?  Is recyclability the only acceptable virtue? How does packaging help consumers in reducing the impacts from food waste?  What Parliamentary and voluntary opportunities are there to achieve the UK’s resource efficiency ambitions in the future?

We hope to answer these questions and more at the event.

Chair: Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer, APSRG Officer

Paul Vanston, CEO, Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment

Dorothy Mackenzie, Chair, Dragon Rouge and non-exec Director for The Carbon Trust

Marcus Gover, CEO, WRAP

Lee Marshall, CEO, Local Authority Recycling Advisory Committee (LARAC)
