    Groups will resume their work and reconstitute from 13 December onwards.

    The All Party Parliamentary Data Analytics Group (APGDA) and Policy Connectwas delighted to launch its landmark report, Trust, Transparency, Tech on data and technology ethics in the House of Commons on Tuesday 21st May, 2019. The event brought together over a hundred people from across academia, industry, and government to hear the case for a new settlement between the public and the technology they use.

    The All-Party Parliamentary Group and the think tank warn that with tech advances comes increased responsibility by data processors and regulators to protect fundamental human rights now through designing-in ethical data use. This means that trust and consent are prioritised at the design stage so technology and algorithms meet minimum ethical standards.

    The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Data Analytics are delighted to be running our first inquiry into the future of technology and data ethics. 

    The rise in automation, robotics, and the Internet of Things as part of the so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution is transforming the way in which people engage with the economy and public services. It is vital that government is able to grasp the ethical concerns that this represents, whilst also being open to the vast potential that new technology and innovation offers.

    Welcome to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Data Analytics

    The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Data Analytics is a new cross-party group established to connect Parliament with business, academia and civil society to promote better policy making on big data and data analytics. 

    There are three pillars to the group. First, what can be done to help UK business prosper, aid investment decisions and define the boundaries of competition. Second, to inform and empower the public on the collection and use of personal data, so they are willing participants in the new age. Third, to develop a world class education division to deliver a skills base to give the UK a leading role in the worldwide use and exploitation of data.
