Transcript from Brexit Series report launch now available

20th July 2017

Hosted by the Policy Connect Sustainability Team, the report launch held on 12th July 2017 was the culmination and information outlet of the Sustainability Teams “Brexit Series”; the set of Parliamentary events organised to examine the impacts Brexit will have on the sustainability, waste, circular economy, energy and built environment sectors.

The report is available here.

The transcript of the speeches made at the report launch is available here.

"I’m [also] very impressed that the report has a lot of concrete stuff, quite literally in the case of housing, which I think is going to be one of the really interesting ones to see whether rhetoric about environmentalism, how that plays out in terms of building more houses and the imperative to do that and the desire to do that cheaply, which may not be cheap in the long run.”- Tom Heap, BBC broadcaster and presenter of Countryfile and Radio 4's 'Costing the Earth'

"Many thanks to the Policy Connect Sustainability Team for the series of events that they’ve put on, which ultimately have resulted in this publication that Claudia and her team have put together" - Peter Aldous MP, Member of the Environmental Audit Committee Jul 2015 - May 2017

“If we leave the European Union, [holds up ‘Principles for a Sustainable Brexit report’] these are things which we have to watch very carefully.”- The Rt Hon the Lord Deben, Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change

I think this document, inasmuch as perhaps framed by that understanding of where we are really going in the future, does a very good job in terms of highlighting the extent to which we can start to approach something better as a result of what will be a long, very traumatic process of going through Brexit itself.- Dr Alan Whitehead MP, Shadow Minister (Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) (Energy and Climate Change)

What we hope we have achieved with this report, with this publication here, is to provide something almost like an instruction sheet that cuts across party political divides and sectoral divides, and really it’s useful for everyone, regardless of what you think about Brexit, regardless of what your party political affiliation, and also regardless of how you personally feel about leaving the EU. - Claudia Jaksch, Head of Sustainability & Chief Operating Officer at Policy Connect
