Prof Adisa Azapagic FREng FIChemE FRSC

Adisa Azapagic is Professor of Sustainable Chemical Engineering at the University of Manchester  where she leads Sustainable Industrial Systems, a research group applying the principles of sustainable development and life cycle thinking in industrial practice. Her research interests include sustainable production and consumption, life cycle sustainability assessment and corporate sustainability.   Professor Azapagic is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Sustainable Production and Consumption and Editor-in-Chief of Process Safety and Environmental Protection. She is Chair of the Sustainability Section of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering. In recognition of her contribution to sustainable engineering, Professor Azapagic has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and an Honorary Fellow of the Society for the Environment. She has also been awarded an honorary doctoral degree from the Technical University of Iaşi, Romania.   Professor Azapagic has received several awards for her research work, including the top IChemE award for Outstanding Achievements in Chemical and Process Engineering and GSK Innovation Award for masterminding the CCaLC carbon footprinting tool for industry (www.ccalc.org.uk).       For more information, visit www.sustainable-systems.org.uk.
