Heidi Allen MP

APMG Vice-Chair

A former councillor, Conservative MP Heidi Allen is a passionate supporter of manufacturing, having previously managed a successful manufacturing business in the automotive coatings sector, developing what was a solely UK orientated company into one which exports globally.

Ms Allen has said that she was inspired to get involved in politics and stand for the constituency of South Cambridgeshire after witnessing the scenes of violence during the 2011 Tottenham riots, and wanted to ensure that the quality of life in Cambridgeshire was not lowered by the economic recession.

She has also said that she wanted to make science, manufacturing and UK business "fashionable again", and encourage businesses to connect with schools and colleges so young people could develop the skills and opportunities they needed. In the 2016 referendum on the UK's membership of the EU she campaigned for a Remain vote.
