The APMG produces regular news updates on developments within Parliament and across the manufacturing sector. In addition to its Term Papers, the Group also publishes a monthly newsletter for its parliamentary and associate members.
On Wednesday 8th July, the APMG brought together a distinguished panel of expert voices from across industry for a webinar chaired by APMG Co-Chair Jack Dromey MP. The panel discussed how the manufacturing sector redploy and reutilise newly available skills in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to enable the sector to address exisiting skills gaps and keep employment levels high.

On Wednesday 25th March, the APMG brought together a range of stakeholders from across manufacturing to discuss the potential of Green Manufacturing, and to focus the workstream for the year ahead.
On Tuesday 14th January 2020, the APMG met to reconstitute for the new parliament. The event was also an opportunity for parliamentarians and associate members to feedback on the proposed work programme and to add additional themes for consideration.
The APMG brought together the Minister for Industry, business leaders and representatives of the public sector to discuss automation and the future of work at Workshop of the World, a fringe event at Conservative Party Conference 2019 in Manchester. The panel featured Nadhim Zahawi MP; Ian Funnell, CEO ABB; Dick Elsy, CEO High Value Manufacturing Catapult and Bobbie Davies, Public Affairs Manager Tata Steel. The panel was Chaired by APMG Policy Manager Ben Carpenter Merritt.
Party Conferences are unusual things, behind the secure zone and airport-style baggage checks, ideas and discussions flow far more freely than they do in Westminster, almost like company away days for policy wonks. This year’s conference season was no exception, but for the fact that Brexit seemed all-consuming, either as the main topic of conversation, or the perpetual elephant in the room.
On Friday 13th September, the Manufacturing Commission held its second evidence session in the Local Industrial Strategy Inquiry at Cummins Turbo Technologies in Hudderfield The session brought together policy makers and manufacturers to discuss how the LIS can best support manufacturing.
