APDIG Members ACID launch new IP Mediation Service

APDIG Members ACID launch new IP Mediation Service

28th January 2016

APDIG Member organisation ACID (Anti-Copying in Design) have this week launched a new mediation service for their members. Mediate to Resolve is a way to enter into difficult IP negotiations with support and expertise from ACID. Of the 3500+ mediation disputes handled by ACID to date, 70% of these were settled on the same day, with only 3 cases going to court.

Affordable mediation of increasing importance to UK designers and design firms, with the vast majority operate as SMEs or microtraders, and for whom legal proceedings are too costly in terms of both finance and time.

Government has welcomed the new initiative, with IP Minister Baroness Neville-Rolfe commenting, Mediation and other Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms offer many advantages over litigation and can be particularly valuable in IP cases. ACID’s ‘Mediate to Resolve’ service gives access to a quicker, cheaper and better means of resolving problems. My congratulations to ACID for this vital piece of work and all they do to improve their service.”
