The WSBF held a round table discussion on "The future of the Green Investment Bank" from 10:00 to 12:00 am on Thursday 08 July.

Speakers:

James Cameron, Green Investment Bank Commission

Tom Murley, British Venture Capital Association

Steve Mahon, Low Carbon Investors UK

Chris Hewett, Green Alliance

While the need for a Green Investment Bank (GIB) has been firmly acknowledged by the coalition Government, the shape and parameters of such a bank have yet to be determined. This timely event will provide an invaluable opportunity for senior business leaders, parliamentarians and other key stakeholders to discuss the future of the Green Investment Bank; how it should be set up and what it should invest in.

The first hour of the meeting consisted of brief presentations by the speakers followed by a round-table discussion. The aim of the second hour of the meeting was to formulate a position paper. The paper was submitted to the Ministers of DECC, BIS, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, and the chairs of the corresponding select committees. This submission was submitted by the WSBF and in will be developed in a manner consistent with the Chatham House Rule.
