Business-led trials on energy efficiency announced
The Government has announced a series of business-led trials to encourage the uptake of home improvement energy efficiency measures.
06 July 2011
A series of business-led trials have been announced by the Government, with the aim of making it easier for people to make energy improvements to their home and save on fuel bills. Companies including B&Q, Homebase, Carillion, British Gas and First Utility/Opower are participating in a number of trial schemes that will involve working with local authorities to determine the best ways of incentivising people to make energy improvements to their homes. Examples from the scheme include loft clearing services, council tax ‘holidays’ and product vouchers. The trials are outlined in a new report from the Government’s Behavioral Insights Team, and will be carried out and evaluated in time to feed in to the Green Deal, which is due to start in autumn 2012.
