Wolf Report published

In September of last year the Government asked Professor Alison Wolf , Professor of Public Sector Management at Kings College London, to carry out an independent review of vocational education. Professor Wolf's report has now been published, and can be downloaded from the Department for Education website here.

The Government will be publishing a full response to Professor Wolf's report shortly.

The Education Secretary, Michael Gove, has however announced that the Government will accept four of the reports recommendations, related to teaching and qualifications, immediately:
  • The Government will "allow further education lecturers to teach in school classrooms on the same basis as qualified teachers. "
  • The Government will "clarify the rules on allowing industry professionals to teach in schools."
  • The Government will "allow any vocational qualification offered by a regulated awarding body to be taken by 14 to 19-year-olds."
  • The Government will "slash red tape in order to temporarily allow high-quality, established vocational qualifications, which are valued by employers, to be offered in schools and colleges from September."
