Estelle Morris on the recession and education

Writing in the Guardian, Baroness Estelle Morris, former Secretary of State for Education and Skills, urges readers not to lose faith in the power of education to improve young people's lives and discusses the importance of qualifications.

She further argues that the Government must:
  • make the case for investment in education and skills as a route to economic recovery;
  • ensure young people are told abou the full range of education and training opportunities open to them;
  • ensure that the Browne Review of Higher Education should not lead to a contraction in the higher education sector.
