David Miliband calls for 14-19 reform
Labour Leadership contestant, David Miliband, has called for a radical overhaul of the 14-19 curriculum to encompass a unified academic and vocational framework.
In a speech at Redland Green School in Bristol, Miliband criticised former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, for failing to embrace the radical reforms proposed by the former Ofsted Chief Inspector, Sir Mike Tomlinson, which would have replaced GCSEs and A-levels with an overarching diploma.
Miliband said: " I think it was a historic error really that we did not follow through on the vision of a unified world class academic and vocational framework for curriculum and testing."
