157 Group to establish awarding body
The 157 Group, the body which represents the 28 biggest FE colleges in the UK, is planning to establish its own awarding body to help reduce the cost of exam fees.
The body will be part of the Coalition's pathfinder projects, which aim to promote the creation of social enterprises and mutuals.
Commenting on the project, Executive Director of the 157 Group, Lynne Sedgemore, said: "Adopting an employee-led mutual approach to awarding qualifications will enable significant financial efficiencies, through shared services and by keeping public sector funds within the FE sector....".
