Policy paper published: food waste

25th August 2017

What actions should Parliament and the Government take to reduce food waste?

The House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Committee has recently published its inquiry into food waste in England.

They make a number of recommendations as to how food waste policy can be improved, including, among others, the adoption of a national food waste target and the introduction of requirements for large food retailers to publish food waste data.

This event, chaired by Baroness Jenkin of Kennington (Trustee of WRAP) was a panel discussion which aims to scrutinise the recommendations made by the EFRA Committee’s inquiry.

This policy paper has been produced as a follow-up to this event - it summarises the discussion and identifies key next steps for food waste policy.
