Spotlight on the EU Circular Economy Package - Part 2: Systems Change and Action Plan

23rd May 2016
This Parliamentary reception will be the second event in a two-part series focusing on the EU Circular Economy Package and will be chaired by Barry Sheerman MP. The first event 'Spotlight on the EU Circular Economy - Part 1: Regulation' took place on 23rd March. After the publication of the long-awaited package “Closing the loop – an EU action plan for the Circular Economy”, this second event held in partnership with the European Recycling Platform will take a closer look at the Action Plan and systemic changes proposed in the Package. This includes discussing how design and innovation can drive more circular business models as well as consumption and waste management practices. Alongside the revised legislative proposals on waste, the Package consists of an EU Action Plan for the Circular Economy that establishes a concrete and ambitious programme of action, with measures covering the whole cycle: from product design & production processes and consumption, to waste management and the market for secondary raw materials. The proposed actions will contribute to “closing the loop” of product lifecycles. Speakers:Scott Butler, Head of Product Management, European Recycling PlatformTom Robinson, Founder, Adaptavate LtdGlen Mehn, Partner, Bethnal Green VenturesKirstie McIntyre, Director, Worldwide Social and Environmental Responsibility Operations, HP IncProf Martin Charter, Director, The Centre for Sustainable Design, and Professor at University for the Creative ArtsProf Dr Raimund Bleischwitz, BHP Billiton Chair in Sustainable Global Resources, University College London, and Deputy Director, UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources This event is chaired by Barry Sheerman MP and sponsored by the European Recycling Platform. Please email apsrg@policyconnect.org.uk for more information and to register.
