Eco-design is rapidly becoming recognised as a key component in encouraging wider environmental sustainability, making a positive impact on carbon output and enabling greater resource efficiency, as well as making sound economic sense.

A detailed debate followed, focused on the need to overcome 'silos' in departmental strategy at Government level to allow system-wide apporaches for utilizing design to promote resource efficiency.
