Defra team face parliamentary oral questions
Waste and Recycling Debated in Parliament
17 October 2011
At the environment, food and rural affairs oral questions last week the Defra ministerial team, facing their new Labour counterparts, rebutted questions including those on waste. The Rt Hon Caroline Spelman MP, answering a question on what the Environment Agency is doing to encourage growth in the waste and recycling sector spelt out how the industry is expected to grow from between 3-5% for the next 7 years. Gavin Shuker MP taking over his new responsibilities for the waste brief from Jamie Reed MP, suggested that if Engalnd had followed the 70% recycling target in the recently published waste review, 50,000 jobs could have been created.
