DECC Consult on local authority energy generation

Department to consider expanding potential for community energy schemes

8 March 2010

The Department of Energy and Climate Change has launched a consultation in to changing the secondary legislation to allow local authorities to sell electricity generated from renewable sources. The consultation comes a fortnight after the launch of the APSRG report: Waste Management Infrastructure: Incentivising Community Buy-In, which recommended that such changes should be made by Government to allow the delivery of community energy incentives in relation to energy-from-waste.
