All Party Parliamentary Gas Safety Group spring lunch

All Party Parliamentary Gas Safety Group’s spring lunch was held in the Commonwealth Room, House of Commons, on 29 March 2011 at 12.30pm and was hosted by Barry Sheerman MP, Co- Chair of the APPGSG.

16.4m households do not have an audible carbon monoxide alarm.  The All Party Parliamentary Gas Safety Group would like to see 10 million carbon monoxide alarms in homes by 2020.

The APPGSG is held a lunch for Parliamentarians and key industry people to seek support in its efforts to help the UK reach this target.

Examples included:

·        Donating alarms to low income households?

·        Encouraging members of your organisation to offer alarms as part of their work

·        Including literature highlighting the importance of co alarms in your correspondence with your customers?

There was a discussion regarding the opportunities for gas safety witihin the Green Deal and it was agreed that Barry Sheerman would lead a delegation to speak to Greg Barker MP, the Minister responsible for the Green Deal.
