Maria Miller MP

APPCOG Officer

Maria Miller is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Basingstoke, a former Cabinet Minister, current Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee, and an Officer of the APPCOG.

Maria Miller was first elected in 2005 She was the Minister for Disabled People from 2010 to 2012, and a member of the Cabinet as Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and Minister for Women and Equalities from 2012 to 2014. She is currently the Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee.

Having had constituents in the past who were poisoned by CO, and with the headquarters of the Gas Safe Register being based in her constituency of Basingstoke, Maria has been a strong advocate for gas safety related issues.

She is a particularly strong supporter of the Gas Safe Register and the work that they do as a local employer and, more importantly, to promote safe gas work across the country.
