Boat Safety Scheme Press Release on CO safety

Boat Safety Scheme Press Release on CO safety

10th April 2018

In time for the beginning of boating season, the Boat Safety Scheme warns boaters of the dangers of CO poisoning. APPCOG is proud to support this initiative and APPCOG members have raised the increased number of CO related boating incidents as an emerging and unwelcome trend we are keen to reverse.  Boat users are at particular risk of CO poisoning, due to the use of petrol-fuelled engines and small cabins in which CO can accumulate to dangerous levels very quickly. Graham Watts emphasises the importance of understanding CO risks: ‘Good skippers will understand and control all risks to protect their crews. This includes knowing about CO and being able to recognise the symptoms of CO poisoning’. Read the full press release here.
