    Report Launch: Is staying online costing the Earth?

    On 20th February 2018, the All-Party Parliamentary Climate Change Group launches a new report: Is staying online costing the Earth? 

    Is staying online costing the Earth? looks at the carbon footprint and energy consumption of different parts of the internet, as well as the potential for internet-connected tech to enable further reductions in carbon emissions in other sectors in the UK.

    The report will be co-chaired by Antoinette Sandbach MP, Conservative Member of Parliament for Eddisbury and member of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee; and Daniel Zeichner MP, Labour Member of Parliament for Cambridge.

    Lancet Countdown report authors present findings to Parliament

    On 21 November, a joint meeting hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Climate Group, the All-Party Parliamentary Health Group, the Lancet Countdown and the UK Health Alliance on Climate Change took place in the Macmillan Room in Portcullis House.

    The discussion was chaired by Daniel Zeichner MP, former Shadow Transport Minister and Labour MP for Cambridge; and Baroness Walmsley, former Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on Health.

    Speakers included Dr Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of the Lance; Prof. Hugh Montgomery, co-chair of the Lancet Countdown; Prof. Georgina Mace, Lancet Countdowon 2017 report co-author; and Prof. Sir Andy Haines, former Director of the LSHTM.

    "It is time to work together on climate change and air quality"

    On 19 October 2017, Stephen Doughty MP chaired a panel discussion on air quality policies like the T-charge, and their impact on health and the environment.

    The event was co-hosted with The Grantham Institute – Climate Change and the Environment, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Air Pollution and the Royal Meteorological Society. Attracting over 70 participants, it brought together stakeholders from different, and often separate communities, to discuss how to approach air pollution and climate change challenges.

    Fellow speakers included Geraint Davies MP, Andrew Selous MP and Baroness Jones of Moulsecoomb.
