Report: Industrial Evolution - Making British Manufacturing Sustainable

The Manufacturing Commission's inaugural report, 'Industrial Evolution: Making British Manufacturing Sustainable', launched on 27 October 2015. It outlines vital measures that government and industry should take to ensure that British manufacturing is here to stay.

Findings covered five themes:

  1. Leadership
  2. Resilience
  3. Innovation
  4. Collaboration
  5. System Redesign

The report follows a nine-month inquiry chaired by Shadow Minister for Culture and the Digital Economy Chi Onwurah MP and Professor Steve Evans, Director of Research in Industrial Sustainability at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge. It provides the foundations for the industrial sector and parliamentarians to work together to initiate the next industrial movement: evolution rather than revolution.

This inquiry and report has been kindly supported by the EPSRC Centre for Innovation Manufacturing in Industrial Sustainability.
