Industrial Strategy: in conversation with Rachel Reeves and Norman Lamb MP

Industrial Strategy: in conversation with Rachel Reeves and Norman Lamb MP

23rd April 2018

Our exciting 'in conversation' event with two parliamentarians leading on important aspects of the Industrial Strategy: Rachel Reeves MP, the chair of the Commons BEIS Select Committee, and Norman Lamb MP, chair of the Commons Science & Technology Select Committee.

The government's Industrial Strategy sets out how to modernise and secure the UK's industrial sector by bridging policy areas such as skills and education, research and development, and international trade. The influential parliamentarians speaking at this event chair select committees holding the government to account and scrutinising these plans.

Our two speakers will be taking questions from the audience. This event is being held jointly by the All-Party Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Employment & Skills, will be followed by a networking drinks reception.

We closed the Parliamentary term with a special Policy Connect event with Tim Shipman, author and political editor of the Sunday Times, and Lord Adonis discussing one year since the triggering of Article 50. As well as focusing on the difficulties ahead for the Government as they negotiate Brexit at home and abroad, the important role that skills will play in post-Brexit Britain featured a significant amount in the conversation, with Lord Adonis calling for an ‘apprenticeship revolution’.
