22nd September 2017

The All Party Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group welcome the release of Sir Peter Bazalgette's independent review into developing the future economic growth Britain's creative industries. The review sets out a positive vision for this vital sector of the British economy. The APDIG is also delighted that many of the recommendations made by Group and its members into the industrial strategy consultation have been acknowledged.

The review showcases the tremendous strength of the British design sector and the wider creative industries, which continue to outperform the wider economy. The sector is worth £87 billion per year, and support hundreds of thousands of highly skilled jobs across the supply chain.

APDIG are especially positive regarding the Review's policy recommendations on skills and look forward to expanding on the points raised in the Group's recent report on Developing Creative Education After Brexit, which sets out a positive vision for how policymakers can work with universities, colleges and businesses to promote economic growth across the country.

The APDIG looks forward to working with Government, members and the creative industries as a whole to ensure that the recommendations of the Review are incorporated into the Government's industrial strategy in the months ahead.
